As a wedding and portrait pro, I am a deep believer of noticing the everyday, the mundane, the often overlooked. It’s what stands out most in my work, I think: the romanticizing of messes, rain, a simple slant of light.
In my life in my old stone house, I love to capture a very lived in life: the sink full of dishes, the coffee stain on the journal page, the first daffodil breaking through the earth, the toddler with his wild curls and dirty knees, the menagerie of cats and dogs slouched in the sun. Because when we’re noticing, we’re practicing presence. And when we’re practicing presence, we’re slowing down. And when we’re slowing down, everything just feels better, doesn’t it?
I will tell you the same thing I tell my wedding and portrait clients: your life is art. You just need someone to help you see it.
