Alyssa + Scotty, Lewisburg, PA Engagement Session

I had maybe the most fun I've had during an engagement session with these two lovebirds. So much genuine emotion, laughs, and interaction that I absolutely adore...THESE are the kinds of sessions that make my heart sing.

I think we can all quickly pick out the kinds of photos where couples look especially posed and uncomfortable, and we all know they make me absolutely criiiiinnnnggeee. With each engagement session, I've dug deeper into getting to know my couples on a personal level so that when the camera is out, they feel more comfortable giving me genuine interaction. Scotty actually said at the end of our three hour shenanigans, "That was so much fun!" Can you picture YOUR boyfriend/fiance/husband saying that? I nearly fell over dead in the field right there. Now THAT is what I wanna hear.

Ladies and gents, I present to you Alyssa and Scotty, engaged in a wheat field in late June. Two fun-loving beautiful people with well-curated outfits against a beautiful backdrop. But I don't think you'll see so much of that as you will the way he looks at her, how her face crinkles when she laughs, the way she sunk into his arms when he carried her at the end of our session.

Please people, don't let someone photograph the way you two look. Make sure you hire someone who captures the essence of who you are when you're together. Why would you have it any other way?

Interested in chatting about a session? I love love in all its forms: families, mommas, anniversaries, engagements, weddings (duh). I'm booking weddings for 2018 and 2019, but have a few openings for the remainder of 2017 for other sessions, so snag 'em before they're gone.

Heather + Frank | Engaged, Lewisburg, PA

Oh Heather and Frank. They are the kind of people I felt instantly comfortable around - easygoing and fun, laid back and kind. They initially decided against an engagement session when they booked me, but called me up about a month ago and said Jordan & Pete's woodsy session totally convinced them. And so I met them at Heather's grandpa's woodsy cabin in New Berlin where we made a fire and drank some beers and frolicked around until sunset.

brian & gina // at home engagement

Oh Brian and Gina. We spent a relaxed, beautiful Sunday together doing their engagement photos in their home and in the forest. Brian and I have been close friends since the second grade, and I was so honored when they asked me to capture such a big time in their lives. Their wedding at Whitewoods this May has me so very excited!

Lindsay + Tyler, Engagement Session in Lewisburg, PA

I love meeting my wedding couples for their engagement sessions! Lindsay and Tyler wanted woodsy and field-y, so we ventured around this beautiful county, climbed through creeks and stayed long after the sun went down. I love the giddiness, the conversations, the apprehension of their love being photographed. I'm so grateful to be able to be a part of it.

Diana + Yshmael's Engement Session, Nay Aug Park, Scranton, PA

I first met Diana at a little coffee shop in Lewisburg where she and her mother met me to discuss my wedding photography packages. Almost instantly, we were laughing and chatting like old friends, and I had that "pefect match" kind of feeling I get when I know the bride and I would be a good fit. Which is SO important because I am literally next to the bride on her wedding day more than her husband. On any given wedding day, I am a bridesmaid, a friend, a buttonaire-attacher, a train-bustler, a wedding coordinator, and a wedding photographer. I take each of these roles very seriously. If I was lingering in the background creepily with my camera, only grabbing the shots Google's list told me to, I would not be who I am, my photographs would not be what they are, and perhaps most importantly, the relationships I form with my clients would not be what they are today.

So you can imagine my happiness when I received this email from Diana just hours after we had first met in that little coffee shop:

Hey Amanda!

It was so great to meet you today!  I completely get your style, and I am so happy to have found you! I was so apprehensive about the photography part of wedding planning, but after meeting you, I feel really at ease about it!

I am very big into sensing people's "auras" and you have a wonderful personality and a calming aura that I think will be a perfect fit for my style! This is why my mother and I do not feel any need to look any further for a photographer!  You are perfect for our wedding!  I showed my fiancé your website when I got home from my parents' this evening, and he loved your style as well and agreed you were the best choice!  We are in! : )

This, people, is why I do this. Those few lines always make all the other stuff worth it. Fast forward to a few weeks later and Diana and her wonderful fiancé Yshmael and I are laughing together as we clamber over the rocks at the beautiful Nay Aug Park. At the end of the session, if truly felt like I was just hanging out with good friends. I am so very excited for their Lewisburg wedding this June!
